The coloring in an old childreen's book and the history of Matryoshka (or russian doll) / A pintura em um antigo livro infantil e a história da Matriosca (ou boneca russa)

English: This russian doll was always present in my life. Since I was a kid, we had this little set of grandmother, mother and childreens, one fitting inside the other. This little set was made in Russia, and having an ukrainian great-grandmother, some russian-ukrainian histories was passed to me. Not much, but at least, the story of this doll I know. 

Português: Essa boneca russa sempre esteve presente na minha vida. Desde criança, nós temos este pequeno grupo de avó, mãe e crianças, uma encaixando dentro da outra. Essas bonecas foram feitas na Rússia, e tendo uma bisavó ucraniana, algumas histórias russas-ucranianas foram passadas a mim. Não muito, mas pelo menos, a história desta boneca eu sei.

English: The legend is that a carpenter made a little doll and by magic, the little doll started talking. The carpenter called her Matriosca and he asked if she was happy, getting an affirmative answer. Every day he questioned the doll and it was always happy. One day, however, she said that she was unhappy because she wanted a child. So the carpenter closed the doll in half, made a smaller doll and stuffed it inside Matriosca. After a while, the matriosca's daughter also wanted a daughter and the carpenter did the same with his daughter. As the granddaughter also wanted, the carpenter made a boy doll and the Matryoscan lineage fell apart.

Português: A lenda é que um marceneiro fez uma bonequinha e por mágica, a bonequinha começou a falar. O marceneiro a chamou de Matriosca e ele perguntou se ela estava feliz, obtendo uma resposta afirmativa. Todos os dias ele quetionava a boneca e esta sempre estava feliz. Um dia, porém, ela disse que estava infeliz, porque desejava uma criança. Então, o marceneiro cerrou a boneca ao meio, fez uma boneca menor e a enfiou dentro de Matriosca. Depois de um tempo, a filha da matriosca também quis uma filha e o marceneiro fez o mesmo com a filha. Como a neta também quis, o marceneiro fez um boneco menino e a linhagem das Matrioscas se desfez.

English: And the actual origin of this doll, according to two websites that I searched; they said that this doll was an inspiration of an image of Buda (Japan). This two sites said that was a man, called Savva Mamontov, who first crafeted the first Matrioskas dolls. Some says that was the result of his works; others, this inspiration on Buda image, as said before.

Potuguês: E a origem dessas bonecas, segundo dois sites que eu pesquisei; eles contaram que esta boneca foi uma inspiração da imagem de Buda (Japão). Estes dois sites falaram que um homem, chamado Savva Mamontov, quem foi o primeiro que construiu as primeiras bonecas Matrioskas. Uns dizem que foi o resultado do trabalho de Mamontov; outros, uma inspiração da imagem de Buda, como dito anteriormente.

English: Well, when I was a kid, I received a matrioska coloring book. So, in the midst of all this theme, I decided doing a challenge, called "Artist vs Coloring Book".

English: Finally, the image of Matrioska represents the family and can also be seen as an evolution of the various stages of a woman's life. Because Matrioska is the oldest, she is more complete inside (she has several generations inside her) and outside (the one with the most detailed painting).

Português: E para finalizar, a imagem da Matrioska representa a família e também pode ser vista como uma evolução das várias fases da vida de uma mulher. Por a Matrioska ser a mais velha, ela é mais completa por dentro (possui várias gerações dentro de si) e por fora (a que tem a pintura mais detalhada).
